Artefact requires an AI Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to bridge the gap between business challenges and technical execution by designing and deploying machine learning and generative AI applications for clients. Operating within multidisciplinary teams, this practitioner collaborates directly with stakeholders to translate abstract ideas into robust architectures.
Daily responsibilities centre on building, testing, and maintaining solutions that leverage large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and traditional machine learning frameworks. Professionals who succeed in this environment possess strong Python programming foundations, cloud platform proficiency, and a pragmatic approach to bridging software engineering best practices with data science objectives.
What you will do
- Design, prototype, test, and deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions from initial proofs of concept through to production environments.
- Develop applications utilising large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, prompt engineering, and artificial intelligence agents.
- Build and integrate traditional machine learning and deep learning models using standard industry frameworks and libraries.
- Construct and maintain cloud-native artificial intelligence services and data pipelines across major platforms like GCP, Azure, or AWS.
- Support the ongoing deployment, monitoring, optimisation, and integration of models into client systems.
- Collaborate directly with business and technology stakeholders to analyze requirements and translate them into functional technical deliverables.
What you need
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrate professional experience working in artificial intelligence engineering, machine learning, data science, or software engineering roles.
- Possess strong programming capabilities in Python alongside familiarity with SQL databases.
- Show hands-on experience building machine learning or generative AI applications, including exposure to vector databases or agentic architectures.
- Bring familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face.
- Have working experience with at least one major cloud provider among GCP, Azure, and AWS, alongside a solid understanding of APIs and Git.
Nice to have
- Experience taking AI and Generative AI solutions from proof of concept into production
- Experience with MLOps, LLMOps, model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or other DevOps technologies
- Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery
- Previous experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment on enterprise-scale projects
