About this role

This is a full-time Staff AI Engineer position at Socure, operating remotely across the USA within the tech department. The role suits an experienced engineer who thrives in ambiguity and wants to shape the future of identity trust through internal agentic AI systems.

Role Overview

Socure is expanding its platform to include agentic workflows and internal productivity tools that power company-wide innovation. Reporting to the Head of New Product Engineering, this Staff AI Engineer position sits on a new Internal AI Engineering team with a mandate to design and ship agentic systems that transform operations across finance, legal, marketing, revenue operations, talent, and sales. This position involves defining product paths rather than merely executing pre-scoped tasks, serving as a primary partner leveraging the Agentic AI Foundations platform.

Key Responsibilities

Partner closely with business units like Talent Acquisition, Marketing, Finance Ops, and Revenue Ops to catalog manual, frequent workflows and prioritize them based on impact, urgency, and feasibility.
Design and develop production-grade, multi-agent systems featuring planner-executor and reflection-based architectures, stateful tracking, and human-in-the-loop controls such as fallback paths and approval gates.
Integrate with the internal Agentic AI Foundations platform covering orchestration, runtime, memory, guardrails, tool registries, and observability, while providing feedback to improve the ecosystem.
Innovate with large language models, orchestration platforms, and multi-agent frameworks to deliver custom internal solutions.
Discover reusable agent design patterns and contribute them back to paved paths to help scale engineering efforts across the company.
Maintain operational excellence by utilizing evaluation harnesses and tracing substrates for failure-mode analysis, continuous performance assessment, and speed optimization.

Requirements

Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience, featuring a minimum of two years dedicated to production-level LLM-powered applications or AI and ML systems.
Extensive hands-on background utilizing LLM application programming interfaces alongside at least one agentic framework like CrewAI, LangGraph, or AutoGen.
Advanced proficiency in Python coupled with a proven track record of creating production-grade backend services, data pipelines, and APIs.
Demonstrated capability to thrive in undefined problem spaces, determine necessary solutions, build them independently, and measure outcomes.
Past experience deploying automation or artificial intelligence solutions that generated measurable impacts on business operations.
Robust systems thinking focused on maintainability, reliability, and observability from the initial design phase.
Exceptional collaboration skills to work alongside non-technical business stakeholders, comprehend actual workflows, and translate them into robust technical architectures.

Nice to Have

Practical knowledge of multi-agent architectures, complex tool-use patterns, or workflow orchestration in production environments.
Familiarity with evaluation and tracing frameworks such as LangSmith, Arize, Weights & Biases, or custom evaluation pipelines.
Experience implementing RAG pipelines, knowledge graphs, vector databases, or grounding and memory systems.
Exposure to real-time or streaming artificial intelligence platforms.
Understanding of security and safety methodologies including hallucination mitigation, data protection, privacy, and prompt injection prevention.
Professional background working within regulated sectors such as government, healthcare, or fintech where compliance protocols are standard.
Familiarity with structured tool integration and agent skill abstraction through function calling or the Model Context Protocol.
Experience leveraging AWS-hosted machine learning infrastructure including SageMaker, Lambda, Bedrock, or equivalent cloud services.
