About this role
Professionals who thrive at the intersection of complex tax operations and modern data engineering will find a natural home in this role. Databricks seeks a technical leader to architect the redesign of global tax processes by building automation solutions and managing finance data pipelines. Reporting to the Senior Director of Tax, the incoming manager acts as the primary technical anchor between the tax team and the finance data unit, leveraging the corporate data lake to boost reporting accuracy and forecasting capabilities.

The position requires translating ambiguous tax needs into maintainable technical deliverables while establishing strict coding and documentation standards. Anyone who enjoys building self-service tools for non-technical stakeholders and applying artificial intelligence to financial workflows will excel here.

- Build and maintain internal tax applications, Genie Spaces, and dashboards to enable self-service for non-technical finance stakeholders.
- Ensure data integrations are consistently maintained and reconciled to support continuous tax reporting and forecasting use cases.
- Enforce Git-based version control, pull-request reviews, and CI/CD pipelines utilizing Declarative Automation Bundles and GitHub Actions to satisfy SOX change management requirements.
- Partner with IT and engineering teams to provide requirements and perform user acceptance testing for new systems interacting with tax.
What you need
- Six or more years of experience in tax automation, transformation, or data engineering, with at least two years in a tax or tax-adjacent field.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data pipeline development, alongside familiarity with the Databricks platform.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining ELT and ETL pipelines connecting source systems like Netsuite, Salesforce, Stripe, or SAP to tax automation tools.
- Solid understanding of core tax and accounting concepts including close processes, tax provision, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous tax requirements into well-scoped and maintainable technical deliverables.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools and data visualization products to build tax-facing dashboards.
