About this role

Analytical professionals who thrive on untangling complex fraud networks and building detection frameworks from the ground up will find a natural home in this role. Reddit is looking for an operational architect to secure its rapidly expanding advertising ecosystem against sophisticated bad actors and financial crimes. Operating within the Safety team, you will take end-to-end ownership of advertiser fraud strategy, translating deep investigative insights into scalable automated defenses and robust detection pipelines.

Working alongside Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Policy groups, you will shape multi-quarter visions and establish foundational playbooks for identifying network abuse, account takeovers, and deceptive ads. This position suits someone experienced in navigating ambiguous environments who can leverage big data and AI tooling to outmaneuver evolving adversarial tactics.

What you will do

  • Formulate and execute a multi-quarter vision for advertiser fraud detection and enforcement while independently prioritizing high-impact risks.
  • Conduct deep-dive investigations into complex, multi-entity fraud networks and map cluster infrastructure to prevent recurring abuse.
  • Partner directly with Data Science and Engineering to translate investigative findings into high-precision detection logic and automated enforcement pipelines.
  • Serve as the primary Safety subject matter expert interfacing with Ads Product, Ads Engineering, and Policy teams to align on shared risks.
  • Synthesize complex adversarial dynamics into strategic guidance for senior leadership.
  • Design, document, and standardize operational playbooks, escalation frameworks, QA standards, and feedback loops for all investigative and enforcement pathways.

What you need

  • Bring 7+ years of experience in threat intelligence, ad tech safety, trust and safety investigations, or platform integrity.
  • Demonstrate a 0-to-1 track record of operating in ambiguous environments to build threat response frameworks.
  • Show strong proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and big data environments to independently query petabyte-scale datasets.
  • Possess experience using AI and LLMs as investigative copilots and partnering with ML teams to deploy LLM-based detection classifiers.
  • Demonstrate deep functional expertise in digital ad ecosystems, ad serving infrastructure, and ad-specific fraud archetypes.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with global ad compliance, privacy regulations, and regulatory reporting standards.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits and Income Replacement Programs
  • 401k with Employer Match
  • Global Benefit programs for workspace, professional development, and caregiving support
  • Family Planning Support and Gender-Affirming Care
