Reddit seeks a Senior Director of Consumer Data Science to lead a multi-team organization partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and business functions.
In this capacity, the person will define the data science strategy for feed, search, ranking, and recommendation systems while establishing company-scale standards for measurement, experimentation, and causal inference. The position exists to guide high-impact decisions and scale analytical capabilities as the platform grows to serve millions of daily active visitors.
An ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in machine learning and experimentation with a proven track record of building high-trust leadership benches and aligning senior executives around difficult architectural tradeoffs.
What you will do
- Partner with senior leaders across Consumer, Product, Engineering, and business functions to define company-level bets, priorities, and tradeoffs.
- Set the data science strategy for Reddit’s feed, recommendation, search, retrieval, and ranking systems, including objective design and relevance evaluation.
- Establish the measurement and experimentation framework for relevance optimization, covering offline evaluation, online experimentation, and guardrail metrics.
- Build durable standards for measurement, experimentation, causal inference, reproducibility, privacy, and responsible AI use at scale.
- Recruit, retain, and develop exceptional Directors, managers, and IC5+ leaders across multiple teams or pillars.
- Align senior product, engineering, and business leaders on measurement strategy, difficult tradeoffs, and decisions with material multi-year impact.
What you need
- Deep data science expertise in measurement, experimentation, causal inference, machine learning, data platforms, and analytical systems.
- Experience working within user-generated content or community ecosystems while protecting analytical quality, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
- Proven ability to connect model and system improvements to consumer value, content quality, trust, diversity, and long-term business outcomes.
- Senior leadership experience managing multi-team or multi-pillar organizations and delivering attributable business impact through durable roadmaps.
- Proven organization builder with a track record of recruiting and retaining exceptional senior leaders and developing Directors and managers.
- Exceptional communication and influence with experience aligning senior product, engineering, and business leaders while resolving conflict.

What is the salary range for this position?
The base salary range for this position is $317,000 to $443,800 USD, with final offer amounts determined by multiple factors including skills, depth of work experience, and relevant credentials.
What additional compensation is available beyond base salary?
In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission.
