Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure

Operating within the Cloud Infrastructure & Platform team at Altruist, this person will shape the AWS-based infrastructure powering a wealth management platform that serves financial advisors and their clients.
Responsibilities include architecting production environments, driving infrastructure-as-code standards, and leading strategies for reliability, security, and developer productivity using modern AI patterns. The role exists to provide technical leadership for critical infrastructure domains, ensuring systems handling real financial transactions remain resilient, scalable, and compliant.
What you will do
- Architect, deploy, and operate production AWS infrastructure supporting high-availability financial services workloads.
- Own and evolve the Infrastructure as Code strategy using Terraform across engineering teams.
- Lead Kubernetes platform strategy, including cluster upgrades, node group architecture, and service mesh evolution.
- Define and drive the observability strategy across the platform using tools like Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Partner with Security, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure infrastructure meets regulatory requirements such as FINRA and SEC.
- Define the strategy for evaluating, integrating, and governing AI-powered developer tools across the organization.
What you need
- Bring at least 7 years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure engineering.
- Demonstrate deep, production-proven expertise working with AWS.
- Show a proven track record of owning and driving infrastructure initiatives end-to-end from design to operational excellence.
- Possess expert-level proficiency with Terraform, covering module design and state management strategies.
