Role Overview

Grafana Labs is seeking a remote Staff Product Manager for OpenTelemetry to join the team in Sweden. This role suits an experienced product professional with a strong technical background who wants to lead cross-product strategies for telemetry onboarding and configuration.

Key Responsibilities

Define the product vision, strategy, and cross-product roadmap that guides users from an uninstrumented workload to healthy, useful telemetry in Grafana Cloud.
Create clear and opinionated experiences across SDK instrumentation, automatic instrumentation, and Collector deployments while keeping options open for advanced users.
Identify and resolve primary causes of setup failure, abandonment, configuration errors, and low-quality telemetry.
Establish shared experience principles, priorities, and success criteria across multiple engineering and product teams.
Utilize customer research, market insights, and product data to prioritize investments and track outcomes like onboarding completion and time to useful telemetry.
Partner with downstream Grafana Cloud solution teams to ensure smooth transitions from ingestion to product activation.
Collaborate with Product Marketing and go-to-market teams to help define the product narrative, differentiate solutions, and support launches.
Engage with the wider OpenTelemetry ecosystem and represent Grafana Labs in related discussions.

Requirements

5+ years of Product Management experience focused on developer tools, infrastructure, data platforms, observability, or complex B2B domains.
Demonstrated ability to lead strategy and execution across multiple engineering teams or product areas without direct organizational authority.
Solid working knowledge of OpenTelemetry, including SDK instrumentation, OTLP, Collector pipelines, telemetry context, and semantic conventions.
Experience building or using instrumentation systems, telemetry collectors, configuration products, or similar infrastructure.
Understanding of the operational challenges involved in deploying software across public cloud environments, virtual machines, and Kubernetes.
Proven history of translating complex onboarding, configuration, and troubleshooting workflows into approachable product experiences.
Data-driven decision-making background that aligns stakeholders and delivers measurable outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for a remote, globally distributed organization.

Nice to Have

Experience building products around or contributing to the OpenTelemetry or broader open-source observability ecosystem.
Familiarity with runtime-based instrumentation, eBPF, or automatic instrumentation.
Firsthand background as an observability practitioner, SRE, developer, or platform engineer.
Experience scaling product-led onboarding, telemetry-health, or configuration-validation features.

Salary and Benefits

Base compensation range for Sweden is SEK 996,819 to SEK 1,196,182.
Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) providing company ownership.
Global annual leave policy of 30 days per annum, which includes 3 days reserved for Grafana Shutdown Days.
