Role Overview

Grafana Labs is seeking a remote Staff Product Manager for OpenTelemetry to own the end-to-end journey for helping people and coding agents instrument workloads and send useful data to Grafana Cloud. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical product leader based in Canada (EST) who wants to make Grafana Cloud the easiest and most trusted destination for OpenTelemetry workloads. Grafana Labs operates as a 100% remote company with a globally distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

Define the vision, strategy, and cross-product roadmap for the journey from uninstrumented workloads to healthy telemetry in Grafana Cloud.
Create coherent, opinionated experiences helping users implement SDK instrumentation, automatic instrumentation, and Collector-based deployments.
Identify and eliminate leading causes of setup failure, misconfiguration, abandonment, and low-quality telemetry.
Establish shared experience principles, priorities, and success criteria across product and engineering teams.
Use customer research, product data, and market insight to prioritize investments and measure onboarding completion and telemetry health.
Partner with downstream solution teams to ensure smooth transitions from data ingestion to product activation.
Collaborate with Product Marketing, Engineering, Design, Documentation, and Developer Relations to define product narratives and drive demand.
Represent Grafana Labs and its customers in relevant OpenTelemetry ecosystem discussions.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of Product Management experience in developer tools, observability, infrastructure, data platforms, or complex B2B domains.
Proven track record leading strategy and execution across multiple engineering teams or product areas without direct organizational authority.
Strong working knowledge of OpenTelemetry, including SDK instrumentation, OTLP, Collector pipelines, telemetry context, and semantic conventions.
Hands-on experience using or building instrumentation systems, agents, telemetry collectors, or related configuration infrastructure.
Solid understanding of deploying and operating software across Kubernetes, virtual machines, and public cloud environments.
Experience turning complex onboarding and troubleshooting workflows into clear product experiences.
History of using customer research and product data to make decisions and align stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for a remote, globally distributed organization.

Nice to Have

Experience contributing to or building products around the OpenTelemetry or broader open source observability ecosystem.
Familiarity with automatic instrumentation, eBPF, or runtime-based instrumentation.
Firsthand background as an SRE, platform engineer, developer, or observability practitioner.
Experience building product-led onboarding, configuration-validation, or telemetry-health experiences at scale.

Salary and Benefits

Base compensation range for Canada is CAD $211,450 to CAD $253,740, with actual pay varying based on level, experience, and skillset.
Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) provided to offer every team member ownership in company success.
Global annual leave policy of 30 days per annum, including 3 reserved Grafana Shutdown Days.
100% remote working environment with structured in-person onboarding.
