Role Overview
Handshake is seeking a Staff Product Designer for Handshake AI to join the team in San Francisco, California, or work remotely. This role suits an experienced, hands-on design professional eager to shape the future of artificial intelligence platforms and career development on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with product, engineering, data, research, and operations teams to build and extend the central tasking experience used to shape frontier AI models.
Create strategic product visions and break them down into pragmatic phases with cross-functional partners.
Collaborate closely with Quality, Coding, RLE, and Fellow Experience teams to enable their work.
Work alongside operations leaders to observe operator workflows, conduct pilots, shadow users, identify pain points, and turn insights into prioritized investments.
Solve complex, ambiguous human-centered problems by turning them into clear, user-friendly solutions.
Manage design tasks completely from initial concept through production, utilizing research, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and polished high-fidelity designs.
Elevate team design culture and execution through advanced systems thinking, strong product reasoning, precise attention to detail, facilitation, and peer mentoring.
Requirements
Bring seven or more years of product design experience, ideally focusing on highly complex and interactive products.
Demonstrate strong communication skills to clearly explain design choices, tradeoffs, and reasoning to leadership and partners.
Exhibit deep visual and interaction design expertise backed by a proven portfolio of shipped work and measurable impact.
Possess experience in designing scalable systems, workflows, or platforms that feature multiple moving parts and diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrate a highly collaborative approach that values diverse perspectives to achieve better project outcomes.
Act as a design-led thinker who embeds design thinking into everyday workflows and helps others develop.
Remain impact-driven with the ability to ruthlessly prioritize and concentrate on high-value tasks.
Maintain a hands-on attitude, taking complete ownership of tasks without viewing anything as someone else's responsibility.
Share a deep motivation for the company mission while remaining humble, kind, curious, and eager to learn.
