Role Overview

As a Staff Product Designer on the Network team, you will design the pathways that introduce millions of people to Handshake and help them establish lasting professional relationships. You will own the full user journey from acquisition and onboarding to activation, referrals, and overall network expansion. Working at the core of the growth strategy, this role blends user psychology, experimentation, and exceptional design craft to connect talent with opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineering, product, marketing, data science, and content teams to define strategy and deliver engaging consumer products.
Own end-to-end design from early concept to post-launch iteration, including user flows, interaction prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
Build experiences across acquisition, onboarding, activation, referrals, and network growth that enable users to discover value quickly.
Address complex consumer design challenges by transforming behavioral insights and user needs into intuitive interfaces.
Rapidly iterate through wireframes and experiments to optimize conversion rates, engagement, and long-term retention.
Partner cross-functionally to design and refine growth experiments spanning landing pages, viral loops, and registration paths.
Maintain a strong focus on visual craft, interaction design, and systems thinking while driving measurable user outcomes.

Requirements

Bring 7+ years of professional product design experience, ideally building consumer products at scale.
Demonstrated background designing products utilized by millions of active users in social, marketplace, network, or growth environments.
Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions, trade-offs, and insights to leadership and peers.
Deep expertise in visual and interaction design with a history of shipping high-quality consumer experiences.
Prior experience designing for growth metrics such as acquisition, onboarding, activation, and engagement.
Familiarity incorporating generative AI tools into the design workflow to accelerate prototyping and iteration.
Proficiency in using both qualitative data and quantitative insights to guide design choices and evaluate experiments.
Highly collaborative, gritty, hands-on, and driven by the mission to help people build careers in the AI economy.

Nice to Have

Direct experience designing growth mechanics like onboarding flows, referral programs, social sharing, viral loops, or SEO surfaces.
Familiarity with product-led growth models, multi-sided platforms, or network effects.
