About this role

Enterprises adopting coding agents face a difficult design problem: figuring out how people can supervise fleets of agents, intervene at the right moment, understand risk, and build trust in autonomous work. Databricks needs a Staff Product Designer to solve this challenge for Omnigent, a platform for building, composing, governing, and sharing AI coding agents across desktop and mobile surfaces.

This individual contributor role will serve as the design lead for human-agent collaboration. Responsibilities include shaping high-density desktop orchestration workflows and lightweight mobile monitoring, designing directly in the codebase for well-scoped changes, and building interactive prototypes to explore ambiguous problems. The ideal candidate possesses a portfolio of end-to-end craft on technical products, demonstrates staff-level scope and impact, and works fluently with AI tools.

What you will do

  • Own the desktop and mobile experience for live agent sessions end to end, covering strategy, interaction models, and visual polish.
  • Shape high-density orchestration workflows on desktop alongside lightweight monitoring, review, approval, and intervention moments on mobile.
  • Design directly in the codebase for well-scoped changes and collaborate with engineers to ship real improvements.
  • Build interactive prototypes as a primary thinking tool to explore, de-risk, and align the team on ambiguous problems.
  • Invent the interaction language for agentic work, including real-time multi-agent sessions, human-in-the-loop approvals, and error recovery states.
  • Define durable UX principles and interaction frameworks that other teams can reuse across Omnigent surfaces.
  • Drive cross-platform consistency by maintaining a scalable design system spanning desktop and mobile environments.

What you need

  • Demonstrate fluency with AI tools, including making small design changes directly in a codebase and using agents to explore ambiguous problems.
  • Provide a portfolio showcasing strong end-to-end craft in interaction design, visual polish, and design-systems thinking.
  • Bring experience designing developer tools, AI and ML products, enterprise software, or other technical user products.
  • Show staff-level scope and impact with a track record of shipping complex developer products and leading design direction.
  • Display self-directed work habits and comfort with ambiguity to help shape product direction when paths are undefined.
  • Act as a strong collaborator who drives high-quality critique, clear decision-making, and partnership with engineering and product.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing coding tools, IDEs, agent frameworks, or developer platforms.
  • Familiarity with multi-agent systems, LLM harnesses, or governance and observability tooling.
