Role Overview

Wispr Flow is seeking a Staff Engineer, Desktop (Windows) to join the team in San Francisco. This full-time role focuses on leading the architecture, performance, and reliability of the company's Windows platform experience.

Key Responsibilities

Establish the technical direction for Windows native integrations and core architecture.
Optimize background behavior, text insertion, onboarding processes, and screen context for high performance and dependability.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and correctness issues across a variety of applications and devices.
Establish and track key metrics reflecting the Windows user experience, covering retention, activation, support volume, performance, and satisfaction.
Construct scalable, reusable systems designed to elevate overall quality across all Windows product offerings.

Requirements

Proven ability to design client systems or platforms that other engineers successfully utilize for building products.
Recent hands-on experience shipping meaningful production code.
Ability to debug unfamiliar systems starting from first principles.
Experience taking ownership of and improving user experience metrics.
Strong combination of sound architectural judgment and meticulous attention to product quality.

Nice to Have

Deep background experience working with Windows, though exceptional client-platform depth is the primary focus.
