About this role

Tenstorrent is currently hiring a Staff Design Verification Engineer to join the AI Hardware department in Austin, Texas, Belgrade, Serbia, Toronto, Ontario, or Zürich, Switzerland. This hybrid position suits professionals passionate about artificial intelligence hardware who want to build scalable verification infrastructure and validate complex compute IP and subsystems.

Role Overview

In this capacity, team members validate cutting-edge custom AI compute cores, RISC-V CPUs, and chiplet-based architectures spanning datacenter, edge, and automotive applications. Professionals will work across block-level and system-level verification, ensuring that simulation, emulation, and software-driven workloads accurately test both functional correctness and performance. The role allows engineers to understand how numerical precision formats and on-chip dataflow affect verification complexity and coverage strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in the verification of Tensix IP and subsystems starting from initial planning all the way through tape-out.
Own specific coverage goals and drive them systematically toward closure.
Create and maintain scalable, reusable verification environments, agents, scoreboards, and support infrastructure utilizing SystemVerilog and Python.
Design both constrained-random and directed tests while fulfilling functional, code, and assertion coverage using data-driven methods.
Troubleshoot intricate issues across RTL and the testbench in close partnership with design, firmware, compiler, and architecture engineering groups.
Improve existing design verification infrastructure, covering regression workflows, CI/CD integration, EDA compute setups, and reproducible configurations.

Requirements

Background in contemporary verification methodologies featuring robust SystemVerilog capabilities and practical exposure to structured testbench creation.
Ability to handle block-level to system-level verification while analyzing microarchitecture behavior using specifications and waveforms.
Working knowledge of Linux systems alongside Python or Bash scripting abilities to automate builds, analyze logs, and oversee CI pipelines.
Competence in coverage-driven verification alongside strong debugging instincts spanning RTL, testbench environments, and workload scenarios.
Enthusiasm for AI hardware and a willingness to master novel verification strategies tailored to emerging architectures.
Ability to meet compliance standards related to U.S. export-controlled technology and associated federal regulations.

Nice to Have

Practical exposure to functional safety verification methodologies dedicated to automotive AI workloads.
Familiarity with formal verification techniques, SystemVerilog Assertions, or formal property verification focusing on complex control logic and microarchitectural edge cases.
