Sr Staff Technical Program Manager- Security
About this role
Organized professionals who thrive on untangling complex technical problems and aligning disparate engineering groups will find a natural fit in this security leadership position. Databricks needs a seasoned program manager to oversee a company-wide portfolio spanning Trust and Safety, Identity and Access Management, Platform Security, and IT. Working closely with executive leadership and engineering teams, the person in this role will turn high-level security goals into concrete architectural strategies and measurable risk reductions.
Operating at the intersection of product security and internal infrastructure, the incoming lead will bridge the gap between customer-facing features and enterprise controls. Success in this position requires the ability to navigate ambiguous situations, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and build durable decision-making frameworks. By mentoring other program managers and setting high standards for execution, the chosen candidate will directly strengthen the security posture and scaling capacity of the platform.
What you will do
- Architect and drive execution of strategic security initiatives across Trust and Safety Engineering, Identity and Access Management, Security, and IT.
- Establish company-wide processes to identify, track, and resolve high-risk security issues while influencing architecture and infrastructure decisions.
- Connect core security infrastructure to platform services so unified identity, data lineage, and audit controls extend across structured, unstructured, and AI workloads.
- Resolve cross-organizational blockers with Director, VP, and C-suite engineering leaders while balancing technical tradeoffs and resource constraints.
- Mentor technical program managers and strengthen standards for technical rigor, operational execution, and program management.
- Represent security architecture and posture in executive technical reviews and appropriate industry forums.
What you need
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or possess equivalent technical experience.
- Bring at least 10 years of progressive experience in technical program management, engineering program management, security program management, or an equivalent technical leadership role.
- Demonstrate the ability to translate security, privacy, policy, and compliance objectives into technical strategy, architecture decisions, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Show a proven capability to resolve conflicting priorities and resource constraints across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical strategies to executive engineering leaders.
- Have experience using AI-enabled tools to accelerate program strategy, technical problem-solving, analysis, and automation.
- Communicate risk, options, decisions, progress, and escalations with precision.
Nice to have
- Experience operating in hyperscale cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or in complex distributed data-processing environments.
- Prior hands-on experience as a software, systems, or security engineer before transitioning to Technical Program Management.
- Familiarity with unified data governance architectures, distributed-systems security, and security controls supporting AI and machine-learning infrastructure.
- Experience with external security research, open-source contributions, or speaking at major technical conferences.
