Sr. Manager, AI Forward Deployed Engineering
About this role
The Forward Deployed AI Engineering team builds first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence applications and delivers professional services engagements focusing on generative AI. Leadership of the EMEA AI Forward Deployed Engineering team at Databricks involves guiding customers through artificial intelligence transformations, expanding executive relationships, and scaling a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers. Success in the role requires deep technical expertise, experience managing technical talent, and the ability to align field engineering and sales strategies for enterprise accounts.
Reporting directly to the Head of EMEA AI Forward Deployed Engineering, the selected manager oversees service-led accounts, revenue, and delivery processes. Collaboration with product, research, and go-to-market teams ensures customer insights shape future product roadmaps. Qualified candidates bring a strong background in scaling technical organizations and a commitment to fostering inclusive team cultures.
What you will do
- Lead and scale a specialized professional services team through hiring, mentoring, and structured growth.
- Develop and expand executive relationships with key stakeholders across EMEA customers and partners.
- Collaborate with field engineering and sales leaders to define joint strategies for strategic accounts.
- Design scalable engagement models and reusable solutions for repeatability across the global team.
- Influence product, research, and go-to-market teams by sharing voice-of-customer insights and delivery learnings.
- Own objectives and key results related to services-led accounts, revenue, utilization, and public references.
What you need
- Extensive experience managing, hiring, and building high-performing teams of data scientists and machine learning engineers.
- Track record of scaling organizations by developing scalable processes and cultivating leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to scope, guide, and sell technical engagements while managing escalations in enterprise environments.
- Deep technical expertise in machine learning, generative AI, and data science.
- Experience leading teams building production machine learning solutions in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proven success developing strategies with senior executive stakeholders to define program goals and align technical vision.
