Role Overview

The Sr. Data Scientist, Business Analytics position at Thumbtack operates within the Business Analytics team. This remote role focuses on conversion and monetization by driving insights, managing company metrics, and guiding strategy across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Define, monitor, and report on key metrics measuring success
Lead business performance analysis and reporting to surface risks and opportunities
Conduct deep-dive analyses to answer critical questions for future strategy
Support and improve revenue forecasting models and the planning process
Build and maintain dashboards and self-serve tools
Partner with leadership and various departments to translate insights into action
Strengthen data culture through peer collaboration, review, training, and coaching

Requirements

6+ years of experience in a highly analytical role
Proficiency using SQL and Python or R for large data sets
Solid statistics foundation, strong business judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and synthesis skills
Experience partnering with executives for decision-making
Communication skills suited for technical and non-technical audiences
Experience using AI to automate workflows and enable self-serve analytics
Experience with revenue modeling and forecasting

Nice to Have

Experience in a marketplace or two-sided platform business

Austin, TX, Washington DC metros, or CA, MA, NJ, WA states: $177,700.00 - $229,900.00
All other US locations: $167,500.00 - $216,700.00
