About this role

SigNoz seeks a remote Sr Backend Engineer - AI in India to build the core intelligence layer for open-source observability infrastructure. This role suits experienced backend professionals eager to transition into AI engineering and shape agent-native workflows.

Role Overview

SigNoz is expanding its engineering team and looking for a senior professional to join Nerve, the dedicated AI pod. This group creates the intelligence layer behind the platform, including Noz the AI teammate, the Model Context Protocol server, autonomous agents, and LLM monitoring tools. The position operates within a fully remote, async-friendly environment where team members guide projects completely from initial design through to production rollout.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop agent backends, handling complex architecture such as agent orchestration, tool calling, Server-Sent Events streaming, and session states for Noz.
Build and maintain the SigNoz Model Context Protocol server, enabling external language models to interact smoothly with system metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards.
Create robust observability tooling for Generative AI and large language model applications using OpenTelemetry.

Requirements

Bring five to eight years of professional backend engineering experience gained at product-driven companies featuring strong technical standards.
Demonstrate proficiency in Go for high-performance concurrency alongside asynchronous Python frameworks like FastAPI, Pydantic, and asyncio.
Exhibit high personal ownership and the ability to drive complex initiatives independently, write clear documentation, and articulate architectural trade-offs.
Possess a strong curiosity about large language models and autonomous agents, coupled with the drive to turn non-deterministic systems into dependable software.

Nice to Have

Practical experience shipping production features utilizing language model agents, function calling, evaluation frameworks, context engineering, or the Model Context Protocol.
Familiarity with ecosystem technologies such as OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
Demonstrated passion for open-source software, including prior contributions to community projects.
