Role Overview

AlertMedia seeks a hands-on Sr. AI/ML Engineer to oversee the selection, fine-tuning, and deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning models. The professional in this position will optimize performance through prompt engineering, establish evaluation pipelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate secure and maintainable AI features into a unified risk intelligence platform.

Key Responsibilities

Train and fine-tune supervised learning models like classification, ranking, and embeddings for internal tools and customer-facing features.

Lead prompt engineering and testing to shape LLM behavior for specific product use cases.

Design and implement evaluation pipelines for both traditional machine learning models and large language models.

Optimize Elasticsearch-backed data systems supporting intelligence pipelines.

Build tools and frameworks dedicated to prompt iteration, model benchmarking, and tracking performance.

Collaborate with the security team to meet AI compliance standards.

Evaluate and compare open-source and commercial LLMs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, and Meta regarding cost, performance, and reliability.

Partner with product and engineering teams to deploy AI capabilities safely and at scale.

Monitor and improve the production performance of machine learning models.

Requirements

5 or more years of software engineering experience, with a preference for Python.

4 or more years of experience in data science, software engineering, machine learning engineering, or applied AI.

Strong foundation in traditional machine learning methods and large language models.

Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and evaluation frameworks.

Familiarity with offline metrics, cross-validation, and A/B testing best practices.

Proficiency in Python and ML libraries including PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, and Hugging Face.

Practical background utilizing Elasticsearch or similar search and indexing platforms.

Experience leveraging cloud-based machine learning tools and data workflows.

Must reside in Mexico with existing authorization to work without employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to Have

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.

Demonstrated experience training and deploying supervised learning models in production environments.
