About this role
The team builds big data solutions and cloud infrastructure for the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. As a Specialist Solutions Architect focused on security, this practitioner guides strategic customers through architectural design, implementation, and deployment best practices for essential workloads. The role exists to provide deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, security, and big data technologies while supporting Solution Architects with advanced aspects of the technical sale.
Candidates who succeed in this position typically possess a background as data platform engineers or cloud architects with hands-on experience in production environments. The individual filling this vacancy will collaborate closely with external clients, manage custom proofs of concept, and contribute to the broader technical community through tutorials and presentations.
What you will do
- Provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers through successful implementations on big data projects.
- Architect production-level workloads, including end-to-end pipeline load performance testing and optimisation.
- Provide technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security relating to the Databricks Intelligence Platform.
- Assist Solution Architects with advanced aspects of the technical sale such as custom proof of concept content, workload sizing, and custom architectures.
- Improve community adoption by participating in tutorials, training, hackathons, and conference presentations.
- Contribute to the Databricks Community and act as a technical subject matter expert.
What you need
- Bring pre-sales or post-sales experience working with external clients across a variety of industry markets.
- Demonstrate experience as a data platform engineer designing, setting up, and maintaining production-grade big data systems using Spark.
- Possess experience designing cloud infrastructure and services on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP while applying best practices in cloud security and networking.
- Have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation.
- Show production programming experience in one or more languages including Python, Scala, SQL, or R.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
