The Professional Services team at Smartsheet is building custom software solutions, AI-powered workflows, and integrations to unite human teams with AI agents. As a Solutions Architect, this person will lead customer engagements to convert business requirements into functional Smartsheet applications, design advanced API integrations, and leverage AI coding assistants like Claude Code to accelerate development. The role exists to drive quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction by acting as the subject matter expert on advanced product capabilities and AI-powered extensibility scenarios.
Ideal candidates are strong communicators and detail-oriented professionals who enjoy operating with high autonomy in ambiguous environments. A successful person in this position will take complete ownership of technical projects from initial discovery through production deployment while maintaining close collaboration with enterprise customers and internal engineering teams.
What you will do
- Develop, build, test, and deploy custom software solutions leveraging Smartsheet products, third-party APIs, and AI-powered workflows.
- Lead technical consulting engagements by running design sessions, defining requirements, and validating architecture against product best practices.
- Evaluate emerging AI tools and techniques to accelerate time-to-value for customers and build reusable components for future engagements.
- Manage all aspects of technical projects, including schedules, deliverables, deadlines, and direct client relationships.
- Provide actionable feedback to Product and Platform Engineering teams to help inform future product improvements and identify feature gaps.
- Maintain a target billable utilization aligned with professional services expectations.
What you need
- Bring at least 3 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrate working experience with two or more primary languages such as .Net, NodeJS, Python, Java, or Ruby.
- Possess full-stack development skills with the ability to independently design, build, and ship production-quality applications.
- Show familiarity with AI and LLM technologies, prompt engineering, and agent design patterns for application integration.
- Have hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code within a daily engineering workflow.
- Display strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills for explaining technical subjects to non-technical enterprise users.
- Be willing to travel periodically up to 15 percent based on customer and business need.

The US Base Salary Pay Range is $115,000 to $152,500 USD. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including level of professional and educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location.
