Day-to-day responsibilities involve leading architecture conversations, conducting design reviews, and demonstrating platform differentiation in competitive scenarios before transitioning momentum to core account teams. Success in this role requires a blend of technical depth, strong ownership, and adaptability, allowing engineers to compress timelines without cutting corners while feeding product feedback back into the broader organization.
What you will do
- Lead technical strategy on time-boxed engagements lasting one to five months to accelerate critical customer workloads toward production.
- Own architecture conversations and drive platform adoption as a trusted advisor to customer architects and engineering leaders.
- Design scalable, production-grade solutions spanning data engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and real-time analytics.
- Demonstrate platform differentiation through custom-built solutions in competitive, must-win customer scenarios.
- Compress timelines and build momentum quickly in ambiguous situations while maintaining high technical standards.
- Package progress into clean handoffs for core account teams, specialized teams, and partners to sustain long-term wins.
- Capture patterns, plays, and product feedback from each engagement to make subsequent customer interactions faster.
What you need
- Bring several years of experience, typically around six or more, in solutions architecture, data engineering, technical pre-sales, or a senior hands-on technical role.
- Demonstrate hands-on coding ability in Python and SQL to build, debug, and present working solutions live.
- Possess deep familiarity with distributed data systems, production cloud deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP, scalable pipelines, streaming, and lakehouse patterns.
- Show proficiency on the Databricks Platform or a proven ability to ramp up on new technology rapidly.
- Bring a strong specialty area such as real-time streaming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data governance, or migrations.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts effectively to senior technical stakeholders, engineers, and executives.
Nice to have
- Databricks certifications including Data Engineer, ML, or Platform
- Familiarity with competitive platforms such as Snowflake, AWS native services, or Azure Synapse
- Background working at a data or AI company or a cloud provider
