Role Overview

As a Solutions Architect at Baseten, the individual will bridge the gap between business needs and technical capabilities. Working alongside the Sales and Engineering teams, this position involves running technical discovery sessions, delivering tailored demonstrations, and steering repeatable deployments for various clients.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Sales team on customer discovery calls to understand technical requirements.
Deliver product demonstrations and handle technical scoping to establish success criteria and deployment strategies.
Oversee benchmarking and repeatable deployments across different modalities like large language models, embeddings, video generation, and voice artificial intelligence.
Provide guidance on infrastructure tradeoffs, including hardware selection and optimization for latency versus throughput.
Master various runtimes such as vLLM, SGLang, and TRT-LLM to advise customers on optimal configurations.
Manage proof of concept projects by aligning stakeholders, coordinating timelines, and engaging Forward Deployed Engineering support when required.

Requirements

Possess a solid background in artificial intelligence and machine learning to communicate effectively with technical stakeholders.
Demonstrate strong customer-facing communication skills for leading structured discovery and translating ambiguous needs.
Bring the technical depth required to scope solutions without needing to write production-level code.
Hold the ability to script and prototype quickly to support technical workflows.

Nice to Have

Background in running or supporting benchmarks for machine learning inference implementations.
Familiarity with infrastructure tradeoffs that impact inference cost and performance, such as GPU selection.
Experience acting as a cross-functional technical lead for customer proofs of concept involving Sales and Engineering.
