About this role

Professionals who thrive at the intersection of rigorous defence constraints, agile software delivery, and high-stakes customer engagement will find a natural home in this role. Helsing operates as a defence artificial intelligence company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership, bringing together engineers, specialists, and programme managers to address complex technical challenges.

As the software programme manager for the land domain, the individual acts as the primary link between internal engineering teams and external customer leads. Responsibilities include guiding cross-functional teams, maintaining software roadmaps, tracking key performance indicators, and translating contractual milestones into iterative product backlogs while managing commercial engagement.

What you will do

  • Maintain and update programme roadmaps and steering dashboards while tracking key performance indicators across engineering milestones and contractual obligations.
  • Facilitate sprint cadences, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives with software and artificial intelligence engineering teams.
  • Translate contractual milestones into iterative product roadmaps and sprint backlogs that balance agile development cycles with customer delivery expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer and partner stakeholders to ensure commitments are met at every milestone.
  • Manage commercial engagement by identifying opportunities, supporting proposals, and keeping delivery progress aligned to agreed value propositions.
  • Orchestrate capabilities across engineering, commercial, and operational workstreams independently over timelines spanning a month to a quarter.
  • Monitor programme risks proactively and prepare structured course-correction recommendations for leadership before delivery timelines are impacted.

What you need

  • Managed the end-to-end delivery of software products in business-to-business or business-to-government environments using agile methodologies.
  • Brought hands-on Scrum Master experience facilitating agile ceremonies, managing backlogs, and unblocking engineering teams.
  • Built and owned senior stakeholder relationships while navigating complex, multi-party environments with commercial awareness.
  • Developed programme steering mechanisms, dashboards, and risk frameworks to translate performance into decision-ready reporting.
  • Held a PMP certification or equivalent, or actively worked towards one while applying structured project management methodologies.
  • Communicated with full fluency in English in written and spoken forms, with willingness to travel regularly including periods working from Andover, UK.
  • Met all requirements for national security clearance under applicable law.

Nice to have

  • Prior delivery experience directly into UK defence of government
  • Experience contributing to bid writing, statement of work, or technical proposal submissions
  • Practical experience applying Agile or hybrid project management methodologies to physical hardware or integrated systems delivery
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning technologies, edge computing, or embedded software integration
  • PMP, APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent formal project management accreditation

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and VSOP options
  • Relocation support up to €2,500 and 4 weeks temporary accommodation
  • Learning allowance of €500 or £450 yearly
