Role Overview

Helsing seeks a Lead IT Engineer to direct the architecture of its corporate IT ecosystem across endpoints, identity, networking, and cloud components. The professional in this position will establish the foundations, pipelines, and engineering standards that enable safe and repeatable modifications with full audit trails. While design and strategic decision-making form the core of the position, hands-on intervention remains necessary when complex technical challenges arise.

Key Responsibilities

Determine the technical architecture of the corporate IT estate and establish standards for the team
Create IT tooling including reusable Terraform modules, remote state management, CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and end-to-end testing
Direct major IT initiatives from conception to completion, such as new office setups, production site builds, and segmented cloud environments
Function as the primary technical escalation point for IT support and engineering, stepping in for complex troubleshooting
Mentor engineers formally and informally to foster code-first methodologies

Requirements

Extensive background in IT engineering, infrastructure, or DevOps, including previous tenure as a technical lead or architect
Familiarity with DevOps workflows such as Git, pipelines, code review, and secrets management
Professional expertise in Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, encompassing Conditional Access, SSO, and identity lifecycle management
Competence in managing macOS and Windows device fleets via Jamf and Intune
Understanding of enterprise networking and Zero Trust access principles

Nice to Have

SaaS platform management through Terraform such as Entra ID, Jamf, Okta, or Meraki
Background in policy as code or automated compliance checks
Experience operating in regulated or classified environments like BSI IT-Grundschutz, VS-NfD, ISO 27001, CE+, or NIS2
Cloud knowledge in AWS, specifically IAM, Organizations, and networking
Linux server administration and virtualization tools like Proxmox, VMware, or Hyper-V
Infrastructure and networking background in Azure
Familiarity with security tools including Microsoft Defender, Purview, and Tenable
