About this role
Baseten builds a mission-critical inference platform that powers AI for companies such as Cursor, Notion, and OpenEvidence. Partner Engineering connects model labs, hyperscalers, and developer platforms to bring new AI capabilities into production.
As one of the first engineers on the partner platform team, you will design integrations with cloud marketplaces, integrate search and developer tools for agent inference, and launch new models with leading labs. You will write substantial production code while shaping the technical foundation of strategic partnerships and building reusable platform primitives for identity, provisioning, and billing.
Success in this role requires a strong background in large-scale distributed systems and comfort working across application code and cloud infrastructure. Someone who enjoys direct technical collaboration with external engineering teams and navigating ambiguous project scopes will thrive here.
What you will do
- Lead strategic partner integrations from initial technical discovery and architecture through implementation and launch.
- Collaborate directly with external engineering teams to design APIs, establish system boundaries, and resolve dependencies.
- Write substantial production code and maintain long-term ownership of the systems you build.
- Develop reusable partner-platform primitives spanning identity, provisioning, inference, and metering.
- Coordinate technical delivery across internal and external teams while managing milestones, risks, and architectural tradeoffs.
- Partner with product and business teams to translate ecosystem opportunities into concrete platform investments.
- Maintain integration reliability through robust API contracts, testing, observability, and failure handling.
What you need
- Demonstrated experience designing, shipping, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production environments.
- A track record of leading ambiguous engineering projects across multiple teams while contributing heavy production code.
- Strong judgment regarding API design, service boundaries, and failure handling to meet measurable service-level objectives.
- Experience translating requests from customers, partners, or engineering peers into defined technical scopes and architectural decisions.
- Solid proficiency working across application code and cloud infrastructure with the ability to debug cross-service behaviors.

The salary range is $265K to $330K along with offers for equity.
