Role Overview

Airwallex is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Infrastructure AI team in Seattle. The position involves designing and operating autonomous agents that handle incident remediation, infrastructure provisioning, and database operations. The role requires working on agent architecture, planning loops, safety guardrails, and tool integration with production systems.

Key Responsibilities

Build goal-oriented infrastructure AI agents on the Quartermaster platform to handle SRE, DevOps, and DBA workflows.
Design agent architectures for safety and reliability, incorporating planning, reasoning, error recovery, and human-in-the-loop escalation.
Integrate agents with infrastructure tooling such as Kubernetes, Terraform, cloud APIs, monitoring platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
Define metrics and build evaluation frameworks to measure agent effectiveness and task completion rates.
Collaborate cross-functional with SRE, DevOps, and platform engineering teams to identify high-value automation workflows.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience with proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or Kotlin.
Practical experience with cloud platforms, container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD systems.
Strong system design skills to architect reliable and scalable agent systems interacting with production infrastructure.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for a global cross-functional environment.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems that autonomously plan, reason, and execute multi-step tasks using LLMs.
Experience with agent orchestration frameworks like LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or custom frameworks and LLM APIs.
Experience with observability and monitoring systems such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK stack.
Experience with database administration or automation.
Understanding of SRE practices including incident response, runbooks, and SLOs/SLIs.
