Role Overview

As a Backend Engineer within the Mistral Compute department, professionals will focus on designing and developing core systems that power cloud solutions. The position centers on creating robust backend features and APIs to support a rapidly expanding user base across global enterprises.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend features and APIs using modern frameworks while ensuring high performance and reliability across distributed systems.
Develop foundational components for authentication, billing, AI tooling, observability, developer experience, and system connectors.
Create efficient, secure, and scalable architectures while collaborating with infrastructure units on deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
Produce clean, maintainable code, participate in peer code reviews, and help establish strong technical standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, front-end developers, designers, and data or AI engineers to deliver cohesive end-to-end features.
Partner with teams across AI Studio, Le Chat, and Mistral Code to maintain a seamless platform experience.
Solve complex engineering hurdles ranging from distributed environments to AI product integration while introducing modern technologies into production.

Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency in Golang.
Solid comprehension of backend fundamentals including application programming interfaces, databases, caching, messaging systems, and distributed architectures.
Background working with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, alongside bare-metal infrastructure.
Practical knowledge of infrastructure tools like Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
Strong analytical problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and an ownership mindset capable of launching complete features independently.
