Role Overview

Mistral AI is hiring a Technical Lead for Applied AI in London to oversee the technical strategy and delivery of custom AI solutions for strategic enterprise customers. The professional in this position will guide project teams, serve as the main technical contact for clients, and collaborate closely with engineering and research groups.

Key Responsibilities

Write critical lines of code and remain hands-on with reviewing, coding, and optimizing complex AI solutions to de-risk projects.
Lead project teams of Applied AI Engineers by offering technical mentorship and deployment best practices.
Lead technical pre-sales conversations to translate client needs into viable architectural solutions.
Design and supervise the deployment of custom large language model applications, retrieval-augmented generation systems, agentic workflows, and fine-tuning processes.
Monitor emerging AI trends and evaluate new methodologies for inference and deployment.
Partner with product managers and researchers to integrate customer feedback into the product development cycle.

Requirements

Fluent in English.
Hold a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
Bring at least 7 to 8 years of professional experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Accumulate a minimum of 2 years of technical leadership experience such as a Tech Lead, Solutions Architect, or Engineering Manager focusing on enterprise AI.
Demonstrate expertise in fine-tuning large language models, advanced retrieval-augmented generation, agentic systems, and natural language processing at scale.
Show proficiency in Python, PyTorch, modern AI frameworks, software engineering, API design, backend development, and system architecture.

Nice to Have

Contributions to open-source projects within the artificial intelligence or large language model space.
Background in customer-facing positions such as Solutions Architect, Customer Engineer, or Technical Product Manager focusing on enterprise adoption.
History of shaping technical strategy and influencing product direction based on market opportunities.
