Role Overview

As a Software Engineer focused on billing and internal tooling at Baseten, the professional filling this position will take ownership of the company revenue infrastructure. Billing has evolved into a strategic driver for growth rather than just operational plumbing. The selected candidate will create leverage for sales, finance, and go-to-market teams while keeping customer experience smooth.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the complete end-to-end revenue and billing infrastructure, covering metering, reporting foundations, pricing, and invoicing.
Develop and improve the billing platform and integrations such as Orb, maintaining auditability, correctness, and trust for both internal groups and clients.
Collaborate with sales, finance, forward deployed engineering, and go-to-market departments to transform operational workflows into automated internal tools for quotes, renewals, approvals, usage reconciliation, and revenue reports.
Architect systems that adapt to new packaging, product releases, and market strategies.
Maintain high reliability and operational standards for revenue pipelines through monitoring, incident response, runbooks, alerts, and backfills.
Spearhead significant projects by defining requirements, planning technical solutions, delivering incrementally, and increasing speed and quality.
Troubleshoot and fix production problems swiftly while communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
Background working with billing systems or developing internal tools.
Comprehensive understanding of databases and the web stack.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
