Role Overview

Mistral AI is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join the team in New York or remotely to enhance platform scalability and performance. This full-time position is ideal for an experienced professional ready to support cutting-edge AI systems and developer tools.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain fault-tolerant infrastructures supporting web services and machine learning workloads.
Ensure high availability across platform, inference, and model training environments while enabling seamless work environment replication across HPC clusters.
Operate production systems, manage user administration, handle data extraction, and troubleshoot interrupts or infrastructure scaling issues.
Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
Drive continuous infrastructure automation, deployment, and orchestration using modern tooling.
Collaborate with AI and machine learning researchers to establish safe and reproducible model-training experiments.
Build a cloud-agnostic platform providing an abstraction layer between science and infrastructure.
Partner with the security team to guarantee infrastructure complies with required security best practices.
Document internal processes and contribute to open-source projects, research publications, and conferences.

Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering role.
Strong background in cloud computing and highly available distributed systems.
Practical experience handling critical environment reliability issues, including root cause analysis and on-call rotations.
Familiarity working with reliability key performance indicators such as observability, alerting, and service-level agreements.
Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Go, or Bash alongside solid software development practices.
Solid understanding of networking, system administration, and security concepts.

Nice to Have

Prior work experience within an artificial intelligence or machine learning environment.
Familiarity with high-performance computing systems and workload managers like Slurm.
Exposure to modern AI-oriented infrastructure solutions.
