Role Overview
Mistral AI is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform team in Paris on a full-time basis. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in distributed systems who wants to impact the reliability, performance, and scalability of advanced AI infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant infrastructures to support web services and machine learning workloads.
Ensure platform, inference, and model training environments maintain high availability and allow seamless replication across HPC clusters.
Operate systems and handle production troubleshooting, including infrastructure scaling and on-call responses.
Implement and enhance monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks to reduce downtime and boost performance.
Create and maintain workflows and tools focused on containerization, orchestration, CI/CD, logging, and monitoring.
Participate in scheduled on-call rotations to resolve incidents and conduct thorough root cause analyses.
Drive continuous improvements in infrastructure automation, deployment, and orchestration.
Collaborate directly with artificial intelligence and machine learning researchers to facilitate safe and reproducible model-training experiments.
Build a cloud-agnostic platform that abstracts complex infrastructure layers for engineering and science teams.
Design and develop new workflows, automation, and tooling to optimize system reliability, availability, and performance.
Partner with the security team to guarantee that infrastructure aligns with best practices and compliance requirements.
Document standard procedures and processes to promote knowledge sharing and consistency across the team.
Requirements
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Seven or more years of professional experience in a Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps role.
Strong expertise in cloud computing and distributed systems.
Hands-on background handling site reliability challenges, including in-production troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and participating in on-call rotations.
Proficiency working with reliability KPIs such as SLAs, observability, and alerting.
Experience utilizing containerization, CI/CD, and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Knowledge of observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or the ELK Stack.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code platforms such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Go, or Bash, alongside a solid understanding of software development best practices.
A robust grasp of system administration, security, and networking concepts.
Outstanding communication and problem-solving abilities, with a proven capability to thrive in a collaborative team setting.
Nice to Have
Previous experience working within high-performance computing systems, AI/ML environments, or modern AI-oriented solutions like Coreweave, Fluidstack, or Vast.
