Role Overview

As a Senior to Staff AI Product Engineer, the professional will construct the behavior software allowing the flagship NEO home robot to operate as an intelligent character among people. Responsibilities involve creating scalable artificial intelligence architectures that enable robots to reason about surroundings, make independent decisions, balance multiple objectives, and execute complex daily tasks safely.

Key Responsibilities

Design orchestration frameworks connecting multiple large language models to break complicated activities into manageable steps for household execution.
Construct systems to capture, retain, and index context regarding physical environments and individuals.
Implement decision-making structures utilizing hierarchical state machines or behavior trees.
Collaborate alongside Core, World Model, Apps, and Motion departments to merge software behaviors into active robot functions.
Enhance the reliability, adaptability, and realism of machine movements while setting robust engineering standards.

Requirements

Six or more years of industry background for senior levels, or ten or more years for staff levels, building conversational artificial intelligence, non-player character behaviors, or software designs.
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related technical discipline.
Proficiency in systems programming and software design.

Nice to Have

Background applying behavior trees, goal-oriented action planning, planners, or hierarchical state machines under performance limits.
Experience designing open-world video games, conversational interfaces, large simulations, or emergent gameplay features.
Exposure to robotics, reinforcement learning, autonomous systems, or embodied intelligence.
Knowledge of pathfinding, navigation setups, task scheduling, perception frameworks, or world modeling.
History creating tooling that permits researchers or engineers to quickly author and troubleshoot complex behaviors.
