Role Overview

The Senior Technical Designer position at Digital Extremes is an exciting opportunity based in London, Ontario or available remotely to build technical game elements and mentor junior team members. This role suits an experienced game developer with a strong programming background who wants to collaborate across multiple departments to create engaging gameplay experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement new game modes, quests, events, and AI systems.
Collaborate closely with level designers, programmers, and other studio departments to iterate on features until they reach a shippable state.
Maintain and support game content following its official release.
Provide guidance and mentorship to Junior Technical Designers by teaching scripting best practices and helping them learn the Evolution Engine.
Assist colleagues with bug reproduction and fixing, provide emergency firefighting support when needed, and contribute to a positive studio culture.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in game design and development.
A university or college degree in computer science, game design, or an equivalent combination of game development experience.
Strong proficiency in Lua or a comparable scripting language.
Basic knowledge of C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with commercial game engines such as Unity or Unreal.
Prior experience working on projects with live service production schedules.
Background in developing multiplayer or networked video games.
