About this role

The Senior Staff Technical Product Manager - Service Intelligence at Scout Motors is a vital hybrid role based in Fremont, California, offering remote flexibility. This position suits an experienced technical product leader ready to shape a confidential backend intelligence platform driving direct-to-consumer retail and service operations.

Role Overview

Scout Motors is seeking a visionary technical product leader to direct the strategy and execution of a foundational backend intelligence platform. Operating in a 0-to-1 environment ahead of the Start of Operations, this role focuses on designing decision-making and orchestration systems that evaluate complex operational inputs in real time. Without traditional user interface responsibilities, success is measured purely by system behavior, decision quality, and scalable operational outcomes across the direct-to-consumer network.

Key Responsibilities

Define and evolve the product strategy for a confidential core platform that supports operations and the service experience.
Translate intricate operational constraints, signals, and policies into automated decision logic and machine-assisted frameworks.
Lead end-to-end product development for logic-heavy platforms, guiding cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Data Analytics, AI/ML, IT, and Operations.
Champion the integration of AI, machine reasoning, and advanced analytics to optimize automated execution versus human decision-making.
Establish rollout guardrails, fallback behaviors, and manual override paths to guarantee platform reliability before launch.
Monitor live system decisions continuously, tuning rules, thresholds, and logic frameworks based on real-world telemetry.

Requirements

Twelve or more years of product management experience with a deep concentration on technical platforms, complex systems, or decisioning engines.
Demonstrated hands-on experience working with AI and machine learning technologies, rules engines, or optimization problems.
Proven track record of leading zero-to-one products within pre-launch, startup, or transformation environments.
Solid comprehension of distributed systems, APIs, data architectures, and real-time processing capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, accompanied by a required AI-related certification.

Skills and Tools

Advanced data-driven mindset with exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving competencies.
Ability to define intricate logic, signal ingestion, and decision flows with high precision.
Strong capacity to influence senior leadership and align diverse stakeholders without exposing sensitive strategic details.
High tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to reason through architectural tradeoffs involving accuracy, speed, and scalability.

Salary and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $176,000 to $211,750 in USD. Employees are eligible for a base salary, an annual performance bonus program, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support physical, mental, and financial wellbeing. Offerings include medical, dental, vision, income protection, an employer-matched 401(k) with immediate vesting, up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, and generous paid time off encompassing 20 planned PTO days, 40 hours of unplanned PTO, and 14 company or floating holidays.
