This position is a full-time Senior Software Engineer, Perception role based in Washington, D.C. at Shield AI, a defense-tech company focused on intelligent systems. The professional joining this team will build and deploy advanced machine learning models designed to solve complex real-world perception challenges for autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deploy advanced machine learning models that address critical perception obstacles for autonomous platforms.
Own major features entirely, guiding them from initial model development through to final deployment.
Collaborate closely with machine learning researchers, perception engineers, autonomy engineers, and platform teams.
Translate cutting-edge artificial intelligence research into reliable, mission-ready perception capabilities deployed in production.
Build robust data pipelines, supervised fine-tuning workflows, evaluation frameworks, and deployment infrastructure.

Requirements

Background working at the intersection of research and production within machine learning or perception engineering.
Ability to handle end-to-end feature ownership from model creation to deployment.
Experience working collaboratively alongside multidisciplinary engineering and research teams.
