Airwallex is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for Infrastructure (Data & AI) in Seoul, South Korea. This position suits an experienced platform or infrastructure engineer looking to build scalable distributed systems that support enterprise data platforms and production artificial intelligence applications.

Role Overview

The organization needs an infrastructure specialist to design and operate distributed environments handling high-throughput data processing and real-time workloads. The person in this role will evolve cloud foundations, improve platform reliability for data streaming, and establish the technical base for artificial intelligence traffic management and model serving.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate highly available data and artificial intelligence infrastructure utilizing Kubernetes and public cloud platforms.
Develop scalable platforms for batch processing, streaming, and real-time data workloads through technologies like Kafka, Spark, and Flink.
Build and evolve artificial intelligence infrastructure, covering AI gateways, model-routing layers, traffic management, rate limiting, authentication, observability, and usage controls.
Create self-service capabilities allowing data, artificial intelligence, and application teams to deploy and operate workloads independently and safely.
Collaborate with various engineering teams to translate evolving technical requirements into durable platform capabilities.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering, taking full ownership of production systems end-to-end.
Demonstrated ability to design, operate, and troubleshoot production Kubernetes environments.
Practical background building or operating distributed data infrastructure with Kafka, Spark, or Flink, or developing artificial intelligence infrastructure such as AI gateways and model-routing platforms.
Hands-on involvement with at least one major public cloud provider like AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
Deep familiarity with container and cloud networking principles, including DNS, load balancing, ingress, service discovery, TLS, routing, and network security.
Proficiency writing maintainable production code in Go, Python, or Java.
Strong comprehension of distributed systems principles, including availability, fault tolerance, consistency, horizontal scalability, and backpressure.
Experience managing critical infrastructure through infrastructure-as-code, automated delivery, and modern observability practices.
Excellent debugging abilities and clear communication skills for cross-functional engineering collaboration.

Nice to Have

Platform engineering background focused on building internal developer platforms or paved-road workflows for multiple teams.
Practical familiarity with serving technologies such as SGLang, vLLM, or NVIDIA Triton Inference Server.
Knowledge regarding GPU scheduling, batching, model parallelism, memory management, autoscaling, and inference-performance optimization.
Experience driving cost efficiency for large-scale data processing or artificial intelligence inference workloads.
Prior contributions to open-source projects related to infrastructure, Kubernetes, data platforms, or AI serving.
