Role Overview

Beacon AI seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure to lead the development of the AWS foundation and large language model platform. The person in this role will design, implement, and operate secure, reliable, and scalable services while collaborating closely with product management and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design, provision, and maintain AWS infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK, alongside building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild.
Stand up and operate model endpoints using Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker, while managing application services that interact with LLMs through streaming and batching.
Develop RAG data systems, vector search implementations, and document chunking pipelines orchestrated through Step Functions or Airflow.
Implement monitoring, offline and online evaluation harnesses, token usage dashboards, and security guardrails using CloudWatch and OpenTelemetry.
Construct data ingestion and processing pipelines for structured and unstructured data while ensuring proper data lineage and cataloging with AWS Glue.
Manage infrastructure communicating with edge devices to support secure messaging and over-the-air updates.

Requirements

Drive complete end-to-end ownership of systems from design through production, including on-call support and continuous improvement.
Demonstrate practical experience shipping or operating production LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation design, and chain orchestration.
Possess deep technical knowledge of core AWS services such as VPC, IAM, KMS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, and SageMaker.
Build data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Python, EventBridge, and SQS.
Apply security best practices including least privilege, network isolation, and robust secrets management.
Utilize quantitative evaluations, live metrics, and A/B testing to guide ongoing technical improvements.

Nice to Have

Bring four or more years of experience working with container platforms or serverless architectures on AWS.
Demonstrate familiarity with vector databases, OpenSearch, or pgvector at scale.
Utilize Bedrock Guardrails, Knowledge Bases, or custom policy engines.
Work with GPU workloads, Triton Inference Server, or TensorRT-LLM.
Apply big data tools for large-scale processing, search, or aviation data backgrounds.
