Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer position at Smartly involves joining the AI Platform Team to develop and maintain core backend services for campaign optimization products. The professional operates within a hybrid work environment, requiring physical presence at the office three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Design, construct, and support backend services that power core campaign optimization products
Participate actively in work planning, retrospectives, and team improvements
Assist data scientists in deploying machine learning models into production environments
Guide team members on software development practices, including testing, monitoring, and clean code principles
Enhance software architecture, coding practices, tools, and processes continually
Collaborate with product, engineering, and infrastructure stakeholders to translate business requirements into viable technical solutions
Engage in knowledge sharing, facilitate productive meetings, and participate in pair programming and debugging

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and deploying production-quality software
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP
Strong proficiency in Python programming
Experience in developing and maintaining services under strict service-level agreements
Analytical mindset paired with a strong problem-solving approach
Adaptability and resilience when confronting new or ambiguous challenges
Written and verbal communication skills in English
Capability to work three days per week from the Helsinki office

Nice to Have

Experience with NodeJS, React, and TypeScript
Practical experience with modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
Knowledge of MLOps concepts and tools like MLflow or Kubeflow
