Role Overview

Juniper Square is hiring a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to join Dex, an AI-native data warehouse and customer-facing data product. This position is located in Canada within a digital-first, remote-friendly work environment. The engineer will design, build, and operate production-quality systems, APIs, and services, focusing on data extraction pipelines, structured data extraction, RAG pipelines, and vectorized storage.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and ship production-quality systems, APIs, and services from foundational platform capabilities to customer-facing product experiences.
Own projects end-to-end, translating requirements into technical designs, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing iteration.
Own production health, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance, reliability, and issue resolution for built systems.
Contribute to technical design for complex projects, evaluate tradeoffs, and help reduce technical debt and reliability risks.
Utilize agentic coding tools and AI-assisted development as a primary workflow while critically evaluating AI-generated code for correctness.
Build or integrate AI/LLM-powered capabilities such as evaluation frameworks, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows with human-in-the-loop boundaries.
Collaborate cross-product with design, QA, and engineering partners to align solutions to business goals.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in backend and/or full-stack software engineering.
Strong backend engineering experience using Python and frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, Pyramid, or Django.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, covering schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
Experience with cloud-native technologies including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
Strong understanding of CI/CD, observability, and operating services in production.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Hands-on experience building or integrating AI/LLM-powered systems in production, such as RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, and evaluation workflows.

Nice to Have

Strong data warehousing or data engineering expertise using platforms like Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
Experience shipping AI-forward data pipeline or warehousing solutions.
Comfort navigating ambiguity in an early-stage, less spec-heavy environment.
Experience with TypeScript and React for full-stack tasks.
