The Senior Software Engineer, AI Engineer position at TRM Labs in Brazil is a remote full-time role focused on building advanced AI-powered intelligence solutions to help agencies investigate and disrupt crime. Key Responsibilities

Embed directly with internal intel analysts to understand their goals, constraints, and daily workflows, translating them into scalable technical solutions with clear success criteria.
Identify high-leverage opportunities to enhance intelligence collection, bringing a product lens to prioritization and productizing work for long-term adoption.
Design, build, and own AI-powered internal applications end-to-end, covering back-end services, APIs, data storage, infrastructure, and user-facing interfaces.
Develop custom agentic solutions using state-of-the-art models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini to scale intelligence workflows.
Manage projects completely through technical design, architecture, scoping, delivery, iteration, and ongoing support.
Build reliable, scalable systems that analysts depend on daily while continuously evaluating impact based on real outcomes.

Requirements

6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience building scalable web applications, services, and APIs.
Strong product sense with the ability to identify the highest-impact solutions and ship durable products that people continue using.
Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, paired with strong back-end and systems engineering skills.
Experience building back-end systems, working with datastores like Postgres, pgvector, Pinecone, or Redis, and designing robust APIs.
Demonstrated curiosity and hands-on experience utilizing AI tools, modern models, agentic IDEs, or building AI-enabled workflows.
High degree of ownership, initiative, and the ability to operate independently within ambiguous problem spaces.
Strong communication skills to build trust with semi-technical stakeholders and clearly explain technical trade-offs.
