Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer for Agentic Ads Experience, the individual will take charge of building AI-driven product solutions that reshape advertising workflows on Reddit. Responsibilities span the complete product lifecycle, from initial problem framing and tool selection to architectural execution, rollout, measurement, and ongoing refinement. The ideal candidate blends robust software engineering expertise with practical generative AI application experience, possessing clear perspectives on agent workflows, retrieval systems, and dependable architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Build and launch advertiser-facing AI features and platforms, including campaign assistants, creative generation, audience discovery, performance analytics, and optimization recommendations.
Design agentic systems by determining optimal architectures, utilizing single-shot LLM calls, workflows, skills, retrieval systems, agent loops, or human review mechanisms.
Implement reliability measures and guardrails addressing LLM failure modes, covering structured outputs, tool boundaries, retries, cost controls, tracing, and evaluations.
Define offline and online evaluation methods, instrumentation traces, and A/B tests to connect model performance to actual business outcomes.
Ensure safety and trust by designing data isolation, permissioning, auditability, and policy compliance for automated actions.
Partner cross-functionally with product management, design, data science, machine learning platforms, trust, and operations to convert ambiguous challenges into shippable systems.
Draft technical design documents, communicate technical trade-offs clearly, and elevate organizational standards for shipping generative AI features.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a demonstrated history of delivering and operating production-level systems.
Practical, hands-on experience constructing generative AI applications involving structured outputs, tool calling, prompt design, RAG, model routing, and error handling.
Strong enthusiasm and familiarity with the evolving LLM and agent ecosystem.
Solid systems fundamentals covering APIs, distributed systems, message queues, data stores, authentication, idempotency, retries, and system observability.
Background in defining evaluations and measurement criteria for AI systems across offline datasets and online metrics.
Daily proficiency utilizing AI coding tools and code-assistant workflows.
Excellent communication skills tailored for remote collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Extensive software development experience in one or more general-purpose languages such as Python, Golang, Rust, Java, or JavaScript.

Nice to Have

Background in advertising technology, marketing tech, marketplaces, growth, recommendations, search, or analytics.
Experience constructing AI systems for high-stakes environments such as customer-facing products, regulated workflows, payments, or high-scale infrastructure.
Experience building internal workflow automation tools for sales, operations, support, policy, trust, or engineering productivity.
