Senior Security Engineer, Networking
About this role
The CoreWeave network security team builds and secures the infrastructure powering large-scale AI workloads across globally distributed data centers and high-density GPU clusters. This senior engineer will architect defense systems for data center perimeters and internal fabrics, establish monitoring for threat detection, and champion a zero trust model to protect rapidly scaling cloud services. Candidates who thrive here bring extensive experience in network security within large-scale cloud environments and enjoy mentoring engineers while collaborating closely across infrastructure and software teams.
Operating in a high-scale environment positioning itself as a major hyperscaler, the role requires designing robust security measures, mitigating DDoS attacks, and securing ultra-low latency backend fabrics. The ideal person possesses a deep understanding of modern cloud architectures, a commitment to security-first practices, and the capability to drive security initiatives end-to-end from policy development to technical execution.
What you will do
- Design and deploy robust security measures across the network perimeter and internal fabrics to protect globally distributed infrastructure hosting large-scale AI workloads.
- Champion a zero trust security model across network and cloud environments by enforcing least-privilege access, continuous verification, and micro-segmentation.
- Establish robust monitoring for network security events and potential breaches across high-density AI cluster networks while coordinating incident response efforts.
- Work closely with networking, infrastructure, and software engineering teams to integrate security best practices into architecture and deployments.
- Secure high-density GPU clusters and ultra-low latency backend fabrics while implementing security controls to protect customer data in transport.
- Drive security initiatives and foster a security-first mindset across the organization through mentorship and security training sessions.
- Develop, implement, and continually refine security policies and standard operating procedures for a scalable, distributed environment.
What you need
- Bring five to ten years of hands-on experience in network security engineering with exposure to large-scale cloud or hyperscaler environments.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of network security principles including mitigating DDoS attacks, securing high-speed data center fabrics, and implementing zero trust methodologies.
- Possess strong conceptual and practical knowledge of modern cloud and network architectures with proficiency in network protocols, segmentation, and firewall configurations.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead security initiatives and projects end-to-end alongside experience mentoring engineers or leading security teams.
- Exhibit excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams across networking, infrastructure, and software.
- Show experience in designing, implementing, and reviewing security policies and controls while familiar with industry standards and compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC2.
Nice to have
