Role Overview

Preply is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Platform/Ops Engineer to support its scaling AI-powered learning platform in Kyiv. The professional in this position will bridge machine learning, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure to ensure secure, reproducible, and rapid model development from training to deployment. Collaboration with machine learning scientists, backend engineers, and data engineers is a core part of the daily routine.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain machine learning pipelines for training, evaluation, and deployment using tools like Databricks, MLFlow, Airflow, DBT, Sagemaker, and Tecton.
Support AI scientists in creating reproducible, containerized model training environments and manage compute at scale with spot and GPU autoscaling.
Define and implement observability and alerting mechanisms for machine learning systems to track model drift, data quality, and feature coverage.
Design and scale data ingestion and feature transformation workflows using batch tools like Spark and BigQuery alongside streaming solutions like Kafka.
Contribute to internal Python libraries and platform tooling designed to accelerate experimentation and deployment across model teams.
Ensure all machine learning services remain modular, testable, and monitored from the initial deployment day.
Explore and productionize large language model features such as retrieval pipelines, prompt evaluation, and model serving.

Requirements

Proven background in designing and deploying production machine learning systems with at least five years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Kubeflow, or Dagster.
Experience working with modern cloud platforms, preferably GCP or AWS, alongside Kubernetes and CI/CD workflows.
Thorough understanding of the machine learning model lifecycle covering training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
Strong DevOps practices including Git, Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, logging, observability, and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
Ability to work independently with machine learning scientists while mentoring peers in reliability, testing, and delivery.
Exposure to large language model serving, vector databases, or generative AI product flows.
Deep, hands-on expertise in artificial intelligence tools, particularly agentic AI software development lifecycles.
