Role Overview

Wayve seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Measurement team within AI Evaluation in Sunnyvale, California. The position involves building offline vision models and adapting architectures to process large-scale camera, lidar, and simulation datasets.

Key Responsibilities

Build, train, and fine-tune offline scene-understanding models.
Adapt on-vehicle architectures and foundation models for offline use.
Improve accuracy and generalisation across geographies and driving conditions.
Benchmark models, diagnose failure modes, and guide iteration through error analysis.
Define quality bars and statistical evidence for validation pipelines.
Collaborate with simulation, data curation, and on-vehicle modelling teams.
Mentor colleagues and contribute to engineering practices.

Requirements

Minimum of four years in machine learning engineering with experience shipping deep-learning models in production.
Practical background in transformer, computer-vision, multimodal, or vision-language model architectures.
Experience adapting or fine-tuning large pretrained or foundation models.
Proficiency in Python and PyTorch or similar frameworks for large-scale training.
Ability to scope and solve ambiguous modelling problems independently.

Nice to Have

Background in 3D scene understanding, offline modelling, and auto-labelling.
Familiarity with temporal or world models, autonomous vehicles, and robotics.
Experience with distributed training.
