Role Overview

The Senior Legal Counsel, Product role at Bumble is a remote-eligible position based in New York, New York, designed for a seasoned attorney to act as a strategic advisor for product and engineering teams. This opportunity suits a legal professional with extensive background in technology, data protection, and cross-functional collaboration who wants to support responsible, legally sound product innovations.

Key Responsibilities

Function as a primary legal advisor for product, engineering, AI/ML, design, and trust and safety teams throughout the complete product lifecycle from early beta to launch.
Provide guidance on cutting-edge topics including generative AI, online safety, content acquisition, open source, privacy, and intellectual property.
Coordinate multi-disciplinary legal inputs to deliver timely, integrated feedback and risk assessments for new and existing features.
Create scalable legal tools, playbooks, checklists, and automated workflows to streamline agile product development.
Assist with trust and safety escalations and transparency reports while promoting privacy-by-design and member-first principles.

Requirements

Hold a J.D. degree alongside an active bar membership in good standing in the UK or EU.
Bring a minimum of five years of relevant legal experience gained in-house at a global technology business or within a premier law firm.
Demonstrate expertise advising product teams on consumer protection, platform liability, and privacy law.
Possess working knowledge of global data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and UK DPA.
Understand online safety regulations, including the Digital Services Act, Online Safety Act, and age verification requirements.
Maintain a primary residency in Austin or New York.
