About this role

Blink Health needs a Senior Instructional Designer to solve the challenge of shifting organizational training toward scalable, AI-powered simulations. The team builds innovative prescription access products like BlinkRx, requiring employees to master complex, high-stakes skills safely and repeatedly. In this hybrid position based in New York or Seattle, the person in this role will design realistic practice environments, manage prompt engineering for conversational AI role-play, and bridge the gap between learning and development and Product and Engineering teams.

Success in this function means delivering simulation-based training that is both instructionally sound and technically scalable, directly improving employee performance. A strong candidate brings deep experience in instructional design and hands-on AI prompt engineering, along with the ability to translate technical constraints into effective learning experiences.

What you will do

  • Design branching scenarios, role-play conversations, and procedural simulations grounded in adult learning principles and real on-the-job situations.
  • Own the prompt engineering and configuration behind AI-driven simulations within licensed platforms or custom-built tools.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the learning and development function and product and engineering teams by writing clear requirements and user stories.
  • Evaluate and pilot AI simulation vendors and in-house technologies against defined learning outcomes and total cost of ownership.
  • Define and track success metrics for each simulation, such as time-to-competency, skill transfer, and performance-data correlation.
  • Ensure simulations meet accessibility standards and organizational data privacy and security requirements for any AI tool used.

What you need

  • Bring seven or more years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a closely related learning and development role.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience building with AI to design, develop, and scale learning experiences, including AI-assisted content generation and prompt engineering.
  • Provide a portfolio or work samples demonstrating the creation of AI-generated learning assets such as simulations, chatbots, branching scenarios, and role-play conversations.
  • Possess experience partnering directly with product and engineering teams in their planning process and communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate a strong grounding in instructional design methodology, adult learning theory, and scenario or branching-logic design.
  • Maintain working proficiency with at least one AI simulation or role-play platform and one standard authoring tool stack with AI-assisted features.
  • Show familiarity with systems such as a learning management system, content management system, and project-tracking tools used by engineering.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree.
