About this role

TRM Labs is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate the foundational platform that powers the organization's intelligence solutions and internal AI agents. This remote-first position within North America suits an experienced builder who excels at taking infrastructure from zero to one in high-stakes environments.

Role Overview

The infrastructure team designs and maintains the platform that every product, investigation, and internal AI agent relies on. Operating on the bleeding edge, this role requires building reliable, secure, and scalable systems for workloads where failure is not an option. The successful candidate will own an end-to-end area of responsibility, turning one-off fixes into reusable paved roads while collaborating closely with a high-velocity R&D department.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage multi-region, multi-cloud Kubernetes environments spanning US GCP, EU GCP, and AWS GovCloud to enable self-serve site deployments.
Extend and maintain an internal PaaS utilized by engineers to deploy services independently.
Develop agent-native infrastructure, including secure sandboxes for AI agents and operational skills that allow the platform to heal itself.
Implement zero-trust secrets management with Vault to replace long-lived credentials and minimize blast radiuses.
Drive reliability engineering through service level objectives, real observability, and validated cross-region disaster recovery.
Manage databases as a first-class platform concern, including Postgres on Kubernetes, migrations, and replication.
Integrate compliance-as-code principles for SOC2 and FedRAMP postures directly into the platform.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience taking infrastructure from zero to one by designing and shipping platform capabilities that others depend on.
Proficiency in writing real software using languages such as Python or Go to build tooling, automation, and services.
Deep expertise in GCP or AWS across compute, IAM, VPC, networking, storage, and load balancing.
Production experience running Kubernetes using GKE or EKS alongside modern Infrastructure as Code practices.
Ability to independently debug low-level issues such as networking bottlenecks, saturated nodes, slow queries, or failing deployments.
Familiarity with modern platform toolchains, including GitOps workflows, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and SLO-based observability.
Strong instincts for security, systems hardening, zero-trust frameworks, and production database provisioning.
