Senior Hardware Engineer, Server Infrastructure
About this role
The hardware engineering team at CoreWeave builds performant, reliable, and scalable server infrastructure to support high-performance AI workloads and rapidly growing cloud platforms. This senior engineer will own server hardware infrastructure from initial provisioning through final decommissioning, balancing hands-on engineering tasks with operational support. Key responsibilities include automating the hardware lifecycle, managing firmware services, qualifying new platforms, and acting as a senior point of contact for complex hardware escalations. Candidates who thrive in this environment enjoy working at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and software while using production insights to improve platform design and automation.
What you will do
- Design and develop server hardware infrastructure tailored for high-performance computing workloads.
- Automate all phases of the server hardware lifecycle including provisioning, configuration, firmware management, monitoring, and decommissioning.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for hardware issues, conducting root-cause analysis across hardware and firmware layers.
- Participate in an on-call rotation while improving related runbooks, alerts, and diagnostic tooling.
- Collaborate with server vendors and OEMs to evaluate, qualify, and deploy new hardware platforms while resolving quality and RMA issues.
- Partner with data center operations and engineering teams to support new region bring-ups and maintain infrastructure health.
- Analyze system performance, pinpoint bottlenecks, and implement measurable improvements to efficiency and resilience.
What you need
- Deep understanding of server hardware components and management technologies.
- Proficiency in Python or Ansible with hands-on experience interacting with server BMCs via Redfish or IPMI.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with OEMs and hardware vendors to qualify and deploy server solutions.
- Proven background in supporting and troubleshooting production infrastructure through on-call or escalation rotations.
- Strong analytical skills with a commitment to data-driven problem solving and technical documentation.
Nice to have
- Experience bringing up new data center regions or setting up infrastructure in new geographies.
- Experience with GPU platforms and rack-scale systems such as NVIDIA GB200 or GB300.
- Fleet-scale experience with BMC technologies and management interfaces like Redfish or IPMI.
- Familiarity with firmware lifecycle management and hardware qualification programs in large-scale environments.
- Strong Linux systems administration and debugging skills at fleet scale.
