In Sofia, Bulgaria, TELUS Digital seeks a Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer to build and evolve AI systems powering a player support platform for a gaming client, suiting an experienced developer with production-level artificial intelligence expertise. The position operates on a hybrid schedule requiring an in-office presence in Sofia.

Role Overview

TELUS Digital is hiring a Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer to work on two connected products: an AI assistant for players and an AI copilot for support agents. The candidate will manage the full stack, spanning backend LLM orchestration and agentic workflows to React applications and admin tools. Business-level English proficiency in both written and verbal forms is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

Design and extend production-grade LLM applications and agentic workflows including RAG, intent detection, clarification, fulfillment, escalation, and human-in-the-loop flows.
Build and maintain the underlying conversation engine, flow validation, configuration tooling, and admin experience.
Integrate tool-use and agentic protocols to expand assistant and copilot capabilities.
Evaluate, benchmark, and tune models across multiple providers, managing quality, latency, throughput, reliability, and cost tradeoffs.
Troubleshoot production issues such as hallucinations, retrieval failures, prompt regressions, model drift, and provider outages.
Implement resilience mechanisms including retries, fallback routing, caching, streaming, and rate limiting.
Instrument and tune model quality using tracing, evaluation datasets, A/B testing, and prompt versioning.
Build player-facing and support-agent-facing interfaces in React and develop administrative tooling.
Write comprehensive automated tests covering unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end layers.
Participate in an on-call rotation and handle production incidents.

Requirements

Proven background in building and operating production LLM-powered systems such as chatbots, AI assistants, agent copilots, RAG systems, or orchestration platforms.
Strong proficiency in strict-mode TypeScript and Node.js engineering.
Hands-on operational experience with prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, agent design, tool calling, model evaluation, observability, and failure-mode analysis.
Full-stack capability covering backend APIs, React user interfaces, databases, infrastructure, and production operations.
Experience modeling complex asynchronous workflows and using state machines.
Solid understanding of REST API design, asynchronous patterns, and caching strategies.
Experience working within a monorepo containing multiple interconnected services.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with agentic tool-use protocols like MCP, semantic search architectures, or AI gateways.
Experience with LLM observability and evaluation platforms across multiple foundation models at scale.
Background in building conversational products under low-latency or streaming constraints.
Hands-on experience specifically with NestJS.
Prior background in gaming, customer support platforms, or high-volume consumer products.
