Role Overview

Handshake is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Enterprise AI division in San Francisco, California. This full-time position suits an experienced technologist eager to architect foundational user interfaces for a rapidly expanding artificial intelligence business from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement the complete frontend architecture for Handshake AI Enterprise, establishing component systems, design tokens, and engineering conventions.
Drive critical technology choices regarding frameworks, state management, rendering strategies, and performance benchmarks.
Create shared libraries and scalable abstractions to empower other engineers to develop rapidly without losing quality.
Set high code standards, conduct thorough reviews, and write documentation that supports team growth.
Partner directly with Applied AI and Platform teams to establish clean API contracts and integration workflows.
Deliver production-grade user interfaces for enterprise clients while concurrently developing core infrastructure.

Requirements

Bring five to six or more years of dedicated frontend engineering experience with a demonstrated history of architectural success.
Possess advanced proficiency in ReactJS and TypeScript, with a deep comprehension of underlying tradeoffs.
Demonstrate practical success in creating and supporting shared component libraries or design systems utilized by peers.
Hold well-reasoned perspectives on frontend architecture, including performance, accessibility, and state management.
Exhibit comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous settings where definitive answers require active exploration.
Maintain strong communication abilities to align cross-functional peers on technical execution.

Nice to Have

Background constructing frontend systems for artificial intelligence or data-heavy platforms.
Previous tenure at organizations recognized for exceptional digital craftsmanship and advanced design systems.
Experience authoring technical guides and documentation that accelerate developer onboarding.
Familiarity with accessibility mandates, performance tuning, or cross-platform rendering.
Exposure to enterprise deployment settings and associated security requirements.

Annual salary range between $205,000 and $300,000 in USD.
